Parent Resources

On average, you have approximately 3,000 hours each year to engage your child.  The church has only about 40 hours each year.  We believe that what happens at home is more important than what happens at church.  Here's how RSC partners with you, the parent:

Babies and Toddlers:

Each month, you will receive a “Parent Talk” newsletter that presents one of the Basic Truths.  This one page resource encourages you with insightful words relevant to your life with a baby or toddler.  You can obtain a “Parent Talk” from your child’s teacher.

Preschoolers:

Each month, you will receive a “Small Talk” resource that presents the Basic Truth, Bottom Line, Memory Verse and Key Question for the entire month, as well as each week’s Bible story summary.  “Small Talk” also gives you specific ideas for activities and discussion that you can do at home to reinforce the monthly themes.

K-5th Graders:

Each week, your child will bring home a “GodTime card” and a “Refrigerator Door” card.

“GodTime cards” are provided to help you spend time with your child through daily devotionals.  There are four different devotions on one GodTime card.  Each devotion is designed to be done on a different day.

“Refrigerator Door” cards are for just that….the refrigerator door.  These are important things to keep in front of your family for the week, giving you a specific question to ask your child and prompt discussion.

All Ages:

Another really fun resource for both parents and children is  http://studio252.tv/

This site includes games, music and activities that reinforce the monthly virtue taught in The Discovery Zone.
